Mermaid, Turtle, Pirate Fun by Deb Antonick

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preparation:
Seal the wood with Gesso, Let dry. Sand lightly to smooth.
Seal the Chipboard backers with a coat of Gesso on each side. Let dry.
Basecoat the Chipboard backers with a coat of Some “Titanium” White. Let dry.
Stamp the images with the Solvent based ink. (Pigment Dye inks will bleed and smear)
Paint over each of the stamped Chipboard backers with a thin coat of the DecoArt Matte Medium. Let dry. This will seal the surface for easy painting.

2. Paint the Tags:Paint the wooden tags with your finger and random patches of Sour Apple, Peacock Teal, Bahama Blue. Gently blend these colors into each other without blending them together.
Us the brayer to roll a little White over the surface to distress.
Stencil the bubbles with White.
Apply modeling paste over bits of the Fish Net stencil. Let dry.
Stamp the sayings onto paper and cut with a circle cutting die. Adhere the circles to the tags with DecoArt Matte Medium. Tint around the circles and around the outer edge of the tags with Cobalt Teal Hue using the Angular shading brush.

3. Stamped images:
I painted all the images with very light washes of the DecoArt Fluid Acrylics. I build up the shading colors by using the Fluid Acrylics at full strength with the Angular shading brushes. Keeping the paint to the tip of the brush, it is easy to tuck the stronger color into the corners to create depth.
The Fluid Acrylics dry quick so it is easy to add tints of other colors.
After I paint my first soft colors, I like to add another think coat of the DecoArt Matte Medium. It dries quickly and any paint added over the Matte Medium can be wiped off with a baby wipe without removing the paint below.

4. Frames:
Emboss the frames with the Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Powder, then attach the frames to the backers with the Adhesive.
Then attach the finished Chipboard to the wooden tags with the Adhesive.
Emboss the Starfish with the Aged Ivory.
Attach with Glue Dots.
